Blogs are dying

1972 bicycleYes, I really do believe blogs are dying.

One major reason for this change is the many faster and easier ways to put personal content up on the web, such as Instagram and Facebook. And I think a lot of people are getting burned out on posting to and reading blogs.

But I still love blogging, similar to how I love my 1972 Gitane road bike. Some old things are still worth hanging on to.

  1. Xanga is a fraction of its former self and may fold next week. My daughters are into Tumblr, now. One still posts on Facebook but Facebook seems to have less activity by young people and more by older people.

I still love my old Schwinn that I bought in the mid-1980s. But it needs new cables and seat and tires, and I don’t know when I’ll get to that. Probably just use one of my dad’s mountain bikes.

  2. I still enjoy reading blogs, yours in particular. I have noticed some people posting less, and since I don’t follow Twitter or check Facebook that often, I miss the daily posts. Don’t give up – you still have loyal readers!

  3. I sadly have to agree with you – now, month later. When Google killed off Reader, I stopped reading my blog subscriptions and stopped blogging myself.

Recently, I compiled all of my posts from my other blogs into one spot and started blogging again. Now I just do it for me and use my blog as a personal journal to keep track of what I’m doing with my life.

Thanks for continuing to blog and motivating me to get back into it.

    Cheers

    1. Hey JT – glad you are still blogging. And glad you are still reading mine. (Thanks!)

I see your new site via an RSS reader called “The Old Reader.” It’s slower than Feedly, but it has an interface more like the old Google Reader.
