I love early autumn

extra-blanketIt’s getting to be that time of the year in Colorado when you wake up in the middle of the night and think, “Is it worth the effort to pull up the extra blanket and half-wake myself up?”

I love the crisp cool evenings and warm afternoons. The leaves are just barely starting to turn. Haze from California’s wildfires seems to be dying back a little. I don’t have to wear an extra layer when riding my bicycle to work.

It’s really the best time of the year.

(And it seems like summer started just a month or so ago.)

  1. It’s that time of year in California when on Saturday we’re sweltering in 105 degree heat, by Monday it’s cool and rainy, and by Thursday it’s 105 again. The worst is when the nights don’t cool down – it doesn’t happen often here, but those 105-deg days can create 80-deg nights, and I wake up in the morning feeling like a wet noodle. The El Nino is bringing some warm storms and humidity. We need the rain but does it have to be so hot? Why can’t we just place an order and get the weather we really like?

    1. Deb, I wish I could send some rain and cooler weather your way! If we all could live next to the beach in SoCal, at least the sea breezes would keep us cool.

  2. Live in CO too! I love the heat. I’m in the wrong state. It’s a little better than where I was before i.e. MN… but only due to the amount of sunshine one gets here in CO. I need to move to AZ… *sigh* but my husband loves it here.
