TL-DNR

too-much-talkTL-DNR = “Too Long; Did Not Read.”

This is a phrase that I wish more people would grasp. Few are able to write a good blog post that is fewer than 100 words. Even more critical than brevity is the ability to capture the reader’s attention. Our world is so fractured into special interests that very few blogs can capture the interest of wide audiences.

Faithful readers of this humble blog are few, because I knowingly write about almost anything and everything. If I wanted to focus, I could grab more readers, but making money from this blog is not my goal. I only desire to connect with a few people at a deeper than surface level: “I totally agree with you!” Or, “You are completely off-base, but I can now understand why you feel that way.”

Shiny Bits of Life are often small things that are insignificant to most people. I love uncovering the obscure and bringing it to life for the few who enjoy the same.

Thanks for joining me on the ride.

  1. This is the ideal blog for me. It’s as chaotic as my brain, illustrated and diverse. What more could a guy ask for?

  2. Hey, I totally agree with you, except when you’re completely off-base (although I understand why you feel that way). The difficulty in writing a blog about everything is that you have to know at least a little about everything! The advantage is that it’s more interesting, and is a truer picture of the way you think. I always enjoy reading you!

    1. Thanks so much Deb!

It’s challenging for me to take on any subject that is one people feel strongly about. I sort of try to avoid those kinds of posts, but sometimes I can’t help myself.

  3. Dad,
The more I read your blog, the more intrigued I become. Throughout the years you have captivated a unique audience with topics, memories, objects, and life lessons that usually go overlooked by the average person. When you stop and appreciate the small aspects of life, that is where true satisfaction lies. I hope you continue this blog for years to come! See ya in a week.

    Jay

    1. Thank you, Jay! It’s a huge privilege that you enjoy reading my little thoughts.

It will be great to have you back in our home, even though it will be for just a few short weeks.
