Singles, not albums

I love music.

I love listening to bands with fewer than 100,000 monthly listeners on Spotify.

My wife and I are such music lovers that we’ve actually hosted two bands of that kind—Arbour Season and Common Man—when they came through Denver for their concerts.

(And I hope that they both get way more than 100,000 monthly listeners.)

One trend of smaller bands is releasing singles rather than albums. I think that lets them get more listens without having to wait to release a full album.

Often, after Spotify’s algorithms have delivered a song I enjoyed, I’ll dig deeper and discover that the artist(s) have no albums and only singles.

I’d encourage you to support smaller bands by seeing them in the small venues they play when they come to your town.

(By the way, I like Hank Bee, though I probably will never get to see them, since they’re based in Liverpool, England.)
