LG is bad

Do not buy any LG appliances.

I have had bad experiences with several of their products.

1. Dishwasher

a) The rack has poor spacing. See the photo below. The center section has large gaps that smaller washable items can easily slip through, and the spacing between the middle tines is much too wide.

b) The rack falls off track when it’s full. The sad thing is that just like the rack’s spacing, it would be so easy to fix this – LG should have just used wider wheels!

c) The silverware cage has a handle in the middle that collects water along the lower edges. When I pull it out of the rack to unload my silverware, water pours onto clean (and formerly dry) dishes. The last thing you want to do when you’re putting away dishes is to get them wet.

d) It was hard to turn off annoying sounds. I had to download the manual to find out how, and even after learning how, it wasn’t easy to make the machine be quiet.

That said, in fairness, it washes dishes very well. I also like that the door pops open when the cycle finishes so the dishes can air-dry.

We bought this dishwasher in early 2026. I spent a lot of time contacting LG customer service about the problems and got no joy.

2. TV

a) It has a twitchy remote. The cursor is extremely sensitive: even a slight movement sends it far across the screen, which makes navigation difficult.

b) It forgets device settings when power is turned off. Every time I fire it up, I have to select the external input again. (Our 10-year-old cheapo Insignia remembers.)

c) The smart functions are really slow. Our 3-year-old Fire Stick is faster, so we use it instead of the TV’s built-in functions.

We bought this TV in early 2026.

3. Refrigerator

My daughter and son-in-law live in an apartment with a high-end LG dishwasher. Its ice maker has broken twice. The first time, the owners had it repaired. That was so expensive that the second time, they bought an external countertop ice maker.

4. Trust Pilot

Trust Pilot rates LG at 1.1 out of 5 stars (link). “Customers frequently complained about poor product quality, citing major appliances breaking down unexpectedly and failing to last more than a few years.”

Avoid LG products. There are better options available.
