When am I going to ever use that?

We often keep things the way they are because “sometime I might do that.”

Let’s be honest. How long have you kept that thing in your closet that you might use sometime?

If it has been there more than five years, get rid of it! It’s just cluttering your life.

I got an excellent Matador backpack as an incentive from Adobe. They were trying to sell me an expensive software subscription. Adobe, an international company, was thoughtful enough that they picked a local company for their incentive gifts. (Matador is based in Boulder, Colorado – about 40 miles from my front door.)

And I love that little backpack.

Backpack users can do “packable” by stuffing the backpack into the little attached bag.

I never stuffed it in there.

So I asked myself why I was carting around that small stuff sack every time I used the backpack. I couldn’t think of a reason to keep it attached. So I cut it off.

Now every time I use it, I won’t have that pesky little stuff sack rattling around inside the pack.

And now the tiny stuff sack stays tucked away in a drawer, a reminder of the “someday” I still hold onto. You never know, I might actually use it someday.

  1. Adding on to this….Paul and I loaded up our Mazda CX-5 to the gills with stuff we’re giving away. It feels so freeing to have a simpler life!
