Replying to spam texts

Ever wonder what happens if you interact with spam texts?

That thought crossed my mind several times, so I started responding.

First, no worries… my security has not been compromised. I always end by blocking the source.

Second, my brother brought up the point that people doing spam texts are sometimes part of crime rings that victimize people by forcing them into that job. I considered that but thought unusual responses might provide a break in their otherwise dreary days.

Here is my short collection of conversations. (Note that the green and blue bubbles are my words.)

1. The largest number of texts come from those wanting to establish a relationship – undoubtedly for financial gain or extortion.

  1. Excellent responses. My favorite was “I was in the backyard staring frogs in the eyes.” My favorite spam was “You make me stupid.”
